Happy New Year, everyone! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
We’re pleased to announce that the fixtures for the 2026 Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League are now live!
This season, all three divisions will begin on 18th April and conclude on 12th September — the first time in years that all leagues will start and end on the same dates. If you're not already aware, this alignment is due to the return of Whaley Bridge, now fielding a second team, and the addition of Kerridge CC, who have joined us from the Cheshire Cricket League. Both teams will compete in Division 3, expanding it from nine to eleven teams.
Division 1
Last year’s treble winners Broadbottom begin their title defence at home against High Lane. Division 2 champions Chapel mark their long-awaited return to the top flight with a home game against last season’s runners-up Dove Holes, in a local derby. Fellow promoted side Charlesworth, playing in the top division for the first time in 25 years, host Dinting.
The eye-catching tie (and no, I'm not being biased!) is at Tintwistle, where they will face off against a couple of familiar faces as they take on Newton. New Mills make the short trip down the A6015 to face Birch Vale, while the final fixture takes place at New Horwich Park, where Whaley Bridge host Old Glossop, who will be looking to bounce back from last season with the help of some new signings.
Division 2
Relegated sides Hazel Grove and Hayfield begin their campaigns to return to Division 1 with away trips to Dinting 2s and Old Glossop 2s, respectively. Last season’s third-place finishers Pott Shrigley who are also away travel up to Dove Holes. The best-placed second team from last year, Newton, host Hollingworth 1s, whom they also faced in last season’s opener.
It’s a battle of the newly promoted teams at New Mills, where they host Division 3 champions Birch Vale, while Buxworth 1s welcome Broadbottom 2s too the Alan Johnson Memorial Ground.
Division 3
Newcomers Kerridge begin life in the D&C with a home game against Buxworth. Relegated sides Tintwistle and Hazel Grove start their Division 3 campaigns with trips to Pott Shrigley and home games against newly reformed Whaley Bridge, respectively.
Last year’s runners-up Hollingworth kick off their promotion push at home against Charlesworth, while Chapel travel down the A624 to face Hayfield. Due to the odd number of teams in Division 3, High Lane begin their season with a bye.
